Bargain hunters can indulge in some guilt-free shopping therapy when households and community organisations across the North Coast take part in the biggest day of garage sales in the region – Second Hand Saturday – 25 October.
“This is guilt-free shopping and indulgence at its best”, Council’s Education Officer – Community and Natural Resources, Sascha Piotrkowski, said
“Firstly, you’ll save money and get a bargain. Secondly, you’re being eco-friendly by saving resources and recycling, instead of buying something new.”
Approximately 200 garage sales have registered so far in the Tweed and other parts of the North Coast, giving shoppers plenty of choice, from tinnies and trailers, to artworks and designer furniture.
For details about all the sales in the Northern Rivers, a free search app and interactive map will be available from www.secondhandsaturday.com.au from 22 October. Website listings including some of the treasured items at each sale, making it easier for shoppers to find a special treasure.
Interested sellers can still register their garage sale until 22 October to appear on the website.
Tweed Shire Council is one of seven councils participating in this event.
